The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has announced that pop-country diva Carrie Underwood’s “Greatest Hits: Decade #1” has reached the 1 million-selling mark, achieving platinum status for the fifth time for the artist.
The album, released in December 2014, was only the sixth all-directional record to reach such high numbers in the past two years. The collection of 25 greatest hits was the first compilation of the young artist and included only two new songs – “Something in the Water” and “Little Toy Guns”. However, both singles reached good positions in the country charts and brought Carrie Underwood a Grammy nomination in the category “Best Country Solo Performance”. Sales didn’t falter either, with the first going gold and the second going platinum.
Congratulations to Carrie Underwood on these successes, and stay tuned for her new album Storyteller, whose first single Smoke Break has already reached number two on the Billboard Country Radio Chart, and her second, Heartbeat, is in the Top 20. A tour in support of the release kicks off Jan. 30.
